Revelation String and the Revellers directed by Matthew Sharp and David Burridge will be performing The Kynge Rides Out on Sunday at Queen Elizabeth School in Faversham. This short piece for string orchestra is based on the scene portrayed in the 15th century song which tells of the triumphant figure of Henry V as he rides to Normandy to the battle of Agincourt.
The piece was premiered last year by Kuumba Strings at the Barbican – this performance will feature Revelation Strings made up of grade 6+ students, string teachers, keen amateurs and some of the UK’s leading string players, inspiring curiosity, skills and passion for music and the arts.
Many of the pupils of Faversham string teachers Sara Thorpe and Jo Saul from Luddenham, Ethelbert Road Primary, and Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School will join “The Revellers” [Beginners/Intermediate string orchestra project], playing alongside “Revelation Strings” in Pirates of the Caribbean and Purcell Trumpet Tune and Air, Bill Robinson Trumpet soloist. Kasey Edwards from Astor College Dover will sing Titanium – Sia.
