In this busy multi-media world, I’m still amazed at the power of the spoken word to capture and conjure a sense of place. Sara Mohr-Pietsch’s interview with Robin Holloway as part of BBC Radio Three’s ‘Composers’ Rooms’ series took me straight back to my first visit to Fenella as a new undergrad in 1990. I suddenly remembered the walk down this guilded hallway like it was yesterday and felt like a very anxious 18 year old. Who’d be 18 again?
