David Knotts teaches at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music. From 1996-98 he was Head of Composition at the Yehudi Menuhin School, and has worked as Musical Director for Glyndebourne’s Youth Opera group. He also spent three years as Education Consultant for SPNM (the Society for the Promotion of New Music).
Alongside these posts, David has maintained a very high profile as an educationalist and animateur drawing together composers, musicians, choreographers and directors to develop high-quality performances with both school and community performers. He has developed work for many of the country’s leading arts institutions including Aldeburgh, Glyndebourne, Opera Threatre Company, Sinfonia Viva, the Wigmore Hall, ENO Baylis, Trinity College of Music, the South Bank Centre, Spitalfields Festival, the City of London Sinfonia & Opera North.
